Good MET AI practice should point to exact sentences, task requirements, and official 0–4 criteria you can fix in your next attempt. It is a practice coach, not an official Michigan Language Assessment score report.
What METmock AI checks
Listening and Reading & Grammar have objective answer keys, so those sections are scored automatically and explained with transcript or passage evidence. AI is used where learners usually get stuck alone: Writing Task 1 & 2 and Speaking Tasks 1–5.
Instead of giving only a single number, the report breaks feedback into the official MET 0–4 rating dimensions, converts them to an estimated 0–80 section score and CEFR band, and shows the exact sentences or phrases to revise.
| Skill | Official 0–4 dimensions | Best next action |
|---|---|---|
| Writing (Task 1 & Task 2) | Grammatical Accuracy, Vocabulary, Mechanics, Cohesion & Organization, Task Completion (0–4 each). | Rewrite one paragraph or short answer using the sentence corrections before starting a new prompt. |
| Speaking (Tasks 1–5) | Task Completion, Language Resources, Intelligibility / Delivery (0–4 each), plus word-by-word transcript and pronunciation cues. | Re-record the same 60-second or 90-second task once, fixing the missing point or delivery issue. |
| Listening & Reading (50 items each) | Instant answer key check, 0–80 scaled score estimate, and explanation of why each distractor is wrong. | Review missed grammar rules or multi-text A/B/C links in Mistake Review. |
How to use AI feedback without memorizing scripts
- Answer under the real clock first: 45 minutes for both Writing tasks, 60 seconds for Speaking Tasks 1–3, and 90 seconds for Speaking Tasks 4–5.
- Check Task Completion first: in Writing Task 1, make sure all three sub-questions are answered; in Task 2, check that your essay develops a clear thesis past 250 words.
- Fix two or three recurring grammar or word-choice habits rather than trying to replace your whole voice with ornate vocabulary.
What AI can and cannot tell you
Only Michigan Language Assessment and its certified raters issue official MET scores. Use AI scores on the 0–80 scale to track your progress and spot weak criteria before test day.
Questions, answered
Does METmock use the official MET 0–4 analytic criteria?
Yes. Writing is rated on the 5 official dimensions (Grammatical Accuracy, Vocabulary, Mechanics, Cohesion & Organization, Task Completion) and Speaking on the 3 official dimensions (Task Completion, Language Resources, Intelligibility / Delivery), each on the 0–4 scale, then mapped to an estimated 0–80 section score and CEFR level.
Are Listening and Reading scored by AI?
No. Listening and Reading & Grammar are 4-option multiple-choice questions scored against the answer key, and they are always free and unlimited.
